Photos of Special Olympics Team receiving MedicAlert Emblems
Special Olympics Great Britain learning disabled athletes and volunteer coaches and staff from England, Scotland and Wales converged on the small town of Runcorn for a weekend of training and camaraderie before their departure to compete at the largest sporting event in the world this year: Special Olympics World Summer Games Athens, 25 June - 4 July 2011.
Joining them was MedicAlert CEO Mark Rawden who was on hand to oversee the distribution of complimentary life-saving sportsbands donated by MedicAlert, which provides life-saving ID for people with hidden medical conditions. Emergency services can call the 24-hour telephone number engraved on the sportband emblem and quote the individual reference number to access the athlete's medical and personal details anywhere in the world.
MedicAlert's CEO Mark Rawden was thrilled to meet the team: "We are delighted to support the GB team... I think the families, as well as the staff will breathe easier knowing that accurate medical history is only a phone call away. "
